District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney on Tuesday asked the political parties to seek permission to run advertisements on electronic & social media including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and other electronic media platforms from the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) set up in the office of District Public Relations Officer (DPRO) Ludhiana.
Sawhney said that only pre-certified advertisements would be allowed to be flashed on social media platforms. She said that all the expenditure on these advertisements would be added to the election expenditure account.
Sawhney assured them that the district administration was duty-bound to ensure a smooth and hassle-free polling process in these elections. She said that political parties must avoid any such campaign which incites mutual hatred adding that no religious place should be used for campaigning.
Seeking fulsome support and cooperation, she said that no stone would be left unturned to ensure a free and fair election process was completed in the district.
