SGPC condemns inspection of area where Shri Guru Granth Sahib was enshrined before Haryana CM’s arrival

Amritsar, May 5

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Harjinder Singh Dhami has strongly condemned the act of reportedly checking the area where Sri Guru Granth Sahib was enshrined during an ongoing Gurmat Samagam (religious congregation) before the arrival of Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini at Gurudwara Sri Ratgarh Sahib in Naraingarh town of Ambala district in Haryana.

Harjinder Singh Dhami said that respect and reverence for Sri Guru Granth Sahib is of great importance for Sikhs, but on the contrary, it has been violated by the police administration of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government in Haryana.

He said that it is clear from the video of this incident that the Haryana Police personnel have hurt the sentiments of Sikhs by checking the place where the Guru was enshrined.

He said that big personalities from around the world pay obeisance to Sri Guru Granth Sahib with reverence and respect, but this action of the BJP government of Haryana is contrary to the traditions of the Guru’s house and has come out of power.

The SGPC President expressed regret that even after a few days of this incident, no reaction or notice has been taken by the leaders of the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC), which proves that they are working under the influence of the BJP government. He also asked the Haryana chief minister to apologize to the Sikh community while taking the moral responsibility of the incident.
