A golden opportunity has been generated by the Department of Apparel and Textile Science, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), for budding designers through the restart of its Fashion Designing (Hons.) degree from the session 2024-2025.
“Fashion Designing is a creative realm where fabric and style intertwine to create classic apparel, upholsteries, and accessories. This is a promising field which imparts vocational skills in students in line with the National Education Policy 2020,” said Dr (Mrs) Kiran Bains, Dean, College of Community Science, PAU.
Sharing details of edibility criteria, Dr (Mrs) Harminder Kaur Saini, Professor and Head of the department, informed that students who have passed thei rintermediate (class XII) in any stream are eligible to take admission in this degree course through their board examination results.
“The department houses state-of-the-art laboratories and is credited by a team of qualified faculty, providing a congenial atmosphere both for personal and professional growth,” she said.
Many successful batches of Fashion Designing in the past had already passed out and got placed in various apparel, knitwear and textile industries in and around Ludhiana, she told.
The scope of students after completing their degrees is quite varied and includes positions as Designer, Merchandiser, Production Supervisors, Quality Analyst, Fashion Forecasters, Supply Chain Managers, etc., she added.
Dr Saini called upon the youngsters to not miss the chance, seize the opportunity and join the remarkably desired career option of Fashion Designing, applicable for both boys and girls.
