The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) gave a big jolt to Shiromani Akali Dal and the Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday, when many leaders left their former parties to join the AAP ahead of Lok Sabha elections.
Akali Dal’s urban president from Moga, Prem Chand, along with his cadre, joined the Aam Aadmi Party. He is 6 time municipal Councillor and district president (urban) of Akali Dal in Moga. Along with him Sanjeev Kumar Narula (Gen. Sec. Punjab Akali Dal), Jalor Singh Gill (Sen. Vice President District Moga Akali Dal), Rajveer Singh Arora (Vice President District Moga Akali Dal), Manohar Lal (Vice President Moga Akali Dal) and Kamaldeep Behal (Akali Dal) also joined the Aam Aadmi Party.
BJP’s Halka Incharge Baghapurana and State Executive Member of BJP Punjab Gurminderjit Singh Bablu also joined the Aam Aadmi Party before Lok Sabha elections in the state. AAP Punjab president Bhagwant Singh Mann welcomed all the leaders to the Aam Aadmi Party and said that their arrival will strengthen the party in Faridkot Lok Sabha constituency. Moga MLA Dr. Amandeep Kaur Arora and Dharamkot MLA Davinderjit Singh Laddi Dhos were also present on this occasion.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) held an important meeting, on Tuesday afternoon, to discuss Lok Sabha election strategies for Punjab. The meeting was chaired by the AAP Punjab President CM Bhagwant Mann. AAP’s national secretary Dr Sandeep Pathak, two time Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh, AAP Punjab working president Principal Budh Ram, cabinet ministers and all the AAP MLAs were present in this meeting.
Talking to the press after meeting, senior AAP leader and Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said that the meeting had a positive atmosphere. Mann sahab, Pathak ji and Sanjay Singh ji shared their experience with our MLAs, constituency in-charges and AAP’s Lok Sabha candidates in Punjab for upcoming elections. He said that all our senior leaders shared their mantra in the meeting and told us how we are going to win all 13 seats in Punjab.
He said that we talked about propagating our policies, decisions and works in every household of Punjab. At the same time we will tell people how BJP is misusing ED and CBI to oppress the democracy in our country.
Cheema said that the Aam Aadmi Party has fulfilled four big guarantees in Punjab in just 2 years. Our major guarantee, given by our national convenor Arvind Kejriwal before the 2022 Punjab assembly elections, 300 units per month free electricity to everyone, was fulfilled within a couple of months after the formation of our government. Today more than 90% of households in Punjab are getting zero electricity bills. We are constantly building Schools of Eminence and Aam Aadmi clinics. Our children are getting free world class education and everyone has access to free health facilities at mohalla clinics. Cheema said that the Mann government bought a private thermal power plant and gave it to the people of Punjab.
He continued, the Aam Aadmi Party government achieved all this in just two years. We are giving Rs 1 crore ex-gratia to the families of martyrs. We closed 14 toll plazas and reduced the financial burden of the common people. We have given more than 43000 jobs to the youth of Punjab on the basis of merit. Our government regularised 13000 temporary teachers.
He said that our report card of two years as the Punjab government is impressive and the top leaders of our party today shared how we are going to apprise the people of all our works, achievements and pro-Punjab decisions. He added that our Lok Sabha candidates, volunteers and leaders will go door to door to talk to the people, they will hold corner meetings. how outdoor meetings will be held. At the same time we will keep opposing the anti-people policies of the BJP, their dictatorship, imposed unannounced emergency of the BJP in the country.
