Zira Liquor Factory Stir: Committee headed by retired High Court judge to visit Mansurwal Kalan on January 17

The Committee constituted by the Punjab and Haryana High Court will reach Mansurwal Kalan on January 17, to know the views of the people over the protests going on by the villagers under the banner of Sanjha Morcha. The protesters, sitting on dharna since July 24, are protesting the closure of the ethanol plant at Mansurwala village in Zira.

The protesters are alleging that the factory is polluting the underground water and environment of the area.

In this context, Deputy Commissioner Amrit Singh said that the chairman of the committee formed by the Punjab and Haryana High Court regarding the Malbros International Private Limited Mansoorwal Kalan – Zira Liquor Factory, R.K.Nehru will pay a special visit on January 17 at 10.3 am where the factory is located, to know the views of the people , panchayats and other organizations of the area.

She said that the chairman of this committee R. K. Nehru, retired judge Punjab and Haryana High Court and Babbar Bhan Advocate ( non-official member ) and other committee members are visiting Mansurwal Kalan . She appealed to the residents of the area, panchayats of the area, people’s representatives to reach the place of the liquor factory on the above date and put their views before the said committee.

DC said the committee will submit its report to the Punjab and Haryana High Court after getting the opinion of the people and meeting with the various officials of the district.

It is added here that so far there has been deadlock over the issue and the nominated members of the Committee taken in consultation with the Sanjha Morcha or Sarpanches, had refused to associate with the sampling committees demanding the closure of the factory. The protests are still going on at the factory site under the banner of Sanjah Morcha.
