New Delhi, February 18
Dr.Vivek Joshi, a 1989-batch IAS officer has been appointed as Election Commissioner, with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office.
Joshi took over as Haryana Chief Secretary on November 1 last year. Now after his new appointment, the Haryana government will have to look for a new Chief Secretary.
Vivek Joshi is an experienced administrative officer and his appointment in the Election Commission is considered important. During his tenure, many important decisions were taken in the Haryana administrative system. Now it remains to be seen which senior IAS officer the state government entrusts with the responsibility of the post of Chief Secretary in his place.
