Hemant Kumar, Advocate in Punjab and Haryana High Court said that the Vigilance Police Stations declaration Notification of the Haryana Government issued five and a half years ago on August 8, 2017, requires suitable amendment
Hemant Kumar told that as per the aforementioned Notification issued under Section 2(s) of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), 1973 which was in supersession of an earlier similar sort of Notification issued in Dec 2002, the offices of Superintendent(s) of Police, State Vigilance Bureau (SVB) at Ambala, Hisar, Gurugram, Rohtak, Headquarters Panchkula, Karnal, and Faridabad have been declared as Police Station in respect of concerned two to five districts falling within their jurisdiction in respect of offenses as mentioned in Schedule II of the Notification.
“Pertinent that only recently on 13 February 2023, Haryana Government has changed the nomenclature of the State Vigilance Bureau (SVB) to Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). However, the SVB Police Stations declaration Notification is yet to be suitably amended or re-issued in this regard,” Hemant Kumar claimed.
The Advocate further elaborated that as far as the Office of SP, SVB, Ambala is concerned, three districts viz. Ambala, Kaithal, and Kurukshetra fall within its area of jurisdiction, as far as the Office of SP, SVB, Hisar is concerned, five districts viz. Hisar, Sirsa, Charkhi Dadri, Bhiwani, and Fatehabad, in case of Office of SP, SVB, Gurugram, four districts viz. Gurugram, Narnaul, Rewari and Mewat (Nuh), in case of Office of SP, SVB, Rohtak, three districts viz. Rohtak, Sonepat and Jhajjar, in case of Office of SP, SVB Headquarters, Panchkula, two districts of Panchkula and Yamunangar, in case of Office of SP, SVB, Karnal, three districts of Karnal, Panipat and JInd whereas in case of Office of SP, SVB, Faridabad, two districts of Faridabad and Palwal fall within its jurisdiction.
