Tribute paid to Martyrs on Police Commemoration Day at SAS Nagar

The responsibility of the internal security of the country lies in the hands of the police. Only the temper of the police can maintain the security of the country. These views were expressed by D.I.G. Rupnagar Range Gurpreet Singh Bhullar while addressing the gathering on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day at District Administrative Complex of district Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar. Police Commemoration Day was started on 21st October 1959 in memory of the CRPF jawans who were martyred on China border while patrolling in Ladakh valley.

DIG said that policemen sacrifice their lives for the sake of the country while performing their duties, to remember their martyrdom, tributes are paid to them on Police Commemoration Day. During the last year, 261 soldiers of police and paramilitary forces have been martyred in India. He said that “I salute the youth who have sacrificed their lives for the sake of the country. We should all remember the sacrifices they made.

Bhullar said that Punjab Police is one such force which has made a name for itself in the world by fighting against extremism and the credit goes to our brave officers and jawans. During the extremism in Punjab, police officers and jawans have brought peace by giving martyrdoms, we should always remember their martyrdoms and acknowledge their dreams so that the pride of the country should always held high.

On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Amit Talwar, SSP Vivek Sheel Soni also paid tribute to the martyrs by placing garlands/wreaths. SSP Vivek Sheel Soni said that the families of the martyrs are our own families and the police department stands with the families of the martyrs in every moment of sorrow and happiness. He invited the police officers and jawans to take guidance from the martyrs and perform their duties with more devotion to public service. Before this, two-minute silence was observed and salute was also given to the martyrs.

The names of martyrs were read by SP (HQ) Ajinder Singh.

On this occasion, Sandeep Kumar Singla, Additional District Sessions Judge, Baljinder Singh Mann, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, all SPs, DSPs and Inspectors of the district, police jawans and the families of the martyred jawans also paid floral tributes to the martyred Jawans.
