Ferozepur, October 14
With the recovery of three mobile phones, one each with SIM Card, from three gangsters lodged in the jail, the Ferozepur jail is in headlines for the past few days due to recovery of mobile phones. The name of Ferozepur jail is linked with the recovery of drugs or weapons in any of the jail in the State as the gangsters in the jail are running their network from inside the jail on mobiles.
Earlier also two mobiles from gangster Manpreet Singh alias Manna, were seized besides recovery of 10 and 13 mobiles on two different days and the officials who had conducted the search operation were threatened with dire consequences.
The three mobiles, with SIM cards were recovered from gangsters prisoners under trial are Munish Parbhakar of Barnala, Chamkaur Singh alias Beant Singh of Baghapurana, Manjit Singh of Hoshiarpur, during search operation of block number 2, chakki number 3 a high security zone.
The name of Central Jail Ferozepur has been continuously coming to the fore in the smuggling of drugs and weapons in the state. A total of 1549 prisoners are currently lodged in the Central Jail Ferozepur against the capacity of 1236 prisoners. Thus, 313 inmates are more than its capacity. Apart from this, 3 minors are also lodged in the jail.
Earlier also, in the case of arms and drugs caught in many places, strings have been found with the prisoners lodged inside the Central Jail Ferozepur, and security was intensified.
The officer investigating the case of a mobile found from three gangsters in the jail said that on the basis of the complaint of the jail administration, the police have started further investigation by registering a case against the above three gangsters under 52A Prisoners Act in the police station city.
