New Delhi, June 25: The National Gatka Association of India (NGAI) is organizing its 12th National Gatka (Men and Women) Championship from June 12 to 14, 2025 at the Talkatora Indoor Stadium in New Delhi.
Gatka teams from 16 states will participate in this national-level martial arts tournament, in which more than 500 boys and girls from different states will participate in a series of exciting individual and team competitions in Gatka Soti and Free-Soti for three days.
Giving more information about this event, National Gatka Association President Harjit Singh Grewal State Awardee said that this championship is to preserve the Sikh martial art Gatka and it is being organized with the aim of promoting and professionalizing as well as providing a national platform for emerging players to showcase their talents.
He said that this championship is part of our long-term 'Vision Document-2030' to transform Gatka from a traditional martial art to an internationally recognized sport.
Our aim is to prepare this sport for the Olympics by raising technical standards, ensuring gender equality through mixed competitions and adopting IT-based tournament management systems.
Meanwhile, NGAI Executive President Sukhchain Singh Kalsani said that we are committed to providing our youth with a safe and competitive platform to flourish their heritage.
This championship is a testament to the growing popularity of Gatka and our association's efforts to promote it nationally and globally.
The Association's General Secretary Harjinder Kumar and Finance Secretary Baljit Singh Saini said that the opening ceremony of this championship will be held on June 12, while the top performing athletes will be honored with medals, trophies and certificates at the closing ceremony on June 14.
NGAI has extended a warm invitation to sports enthusiasts, cultural patrons and the general public to cheer on Gatka players from different states at this historic event and watch this magnificent competition.
