After Rihanna and Greta Thunberg, Lebanese-American media personality, and former pornographic actress, Mia Khalifa has also tweeted regarding the ongoing farmers’ protest in New Delhi. Taking to her verified Twitter account, Mia’s tweet read, “What in the human rights violations is going on?! They cut the internet around New Delhi?! #FarmersProtest.” On Tuesday, Rihanna tweeted- “Why aren’t we talking about this? #FarmersProtest .” Rihanna has 100 million followers on the microblogging site, garned thousands of retweets and likes within an hour. Hours after Rihanna’s tweet, Swedish climate activist and Nobel peace prize nominee Greta Thunberg also extended her support to the ongoing unrest of farmers, saying she stands in support of them. Greta tweeted, “We stand in solidarity with the #FarmersProtest in India.” In addition to this, author and niece of US Vice President Kamala Harris, Meena also backed the farmers’ protest and tweeted, “It’s no coincidence that the world’s oldest democracy was attacked not even a month ago, and as we speak, the most populous democracy is under assault. This is related. We ALL should be outraged by India’s internet shutdowns and paramilitary violence against farmer protesters.”
