Senior Akali leaders and workers have expressed dissatisfaction with the high party command for denying tickets to senior Akali leader Parminder Singh Dhindsa.
A meeting of several senior Akali leaders and workers who were angry because of the reneging on the promises made to Dhindsa and his colleagues was held at Shiromani Akali Dal patron S. Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa’s residence in Chandigarh.
During the meeting, the group leaders and workers expressed their protest in a sharp tone and said that they were being shown inferiority by ignoring Parminder Singh Dhindsa, the strong contender for the Akali Dal ticket from Sangrur.
Apart from this, many promises were made for the prosperity of Panth and Punjab before we were included in the party which the party president has denied and cannot be tolerated at any cost.
The leaders present in the meeting said that Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa along with his colleagues had joined the Shiromani Akali Dal after about 4-5 years and returned home and the party president had assured them that their opinion regarding Sangrur and other seats would be taken care of. Advice will be taken but they are completely ignored while issuing tickets.
Meanwhile, various leaders also talked about taking a strong stand against the party in this regard and expressed their inability to go along with the party in this situation.
On this occasion, Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa consoled the leaders said that they will not oppose the party and would always keep guarding the original principles of Shiromani Akali Dal.
