Fulfilling the commitment to provide better health facilities to the common people, Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Maan has commenced a STEMI pilot project for patients suffering from heart attack in the district hospital.
Giving information in this regard, MLA Advocate Dinesh Chadha said that under the STEMI pilot project, the patient is being treated completely free of charge in case of heart attack. He appreciated Medical Expert Dr Rajiv Agarwal, for saving lives of 4 patients within 1 month.
He said that in many cases, the patient’s condition worsens when he suffered from a heart attack, then he would immediately refer to Chandigarh PGI or other tertiary health institute. But now under this project patient are provided with two vaccinations to reduce the risk of patient life. With this treatment, blockage in the heart of the patient can be cured to a large extent.
He said that this immediate medical treatment can provide relief to the affected patients to get treatment at nearest health institution where stenting is done along with angiography. This vaccination is being done absolutely free by the Punjab government at a cost of Rs. 70K.
He further divulged that 4 patients have been treated so far in the emergency ward of district hospitals and they recovered completely. He said that firstly, patient can screen by medical officers and after getting the testing, patient get the treatment.
On this occasion, Medical expert Dr Rajiv Aggrawal said that about 3 million patients suffered from heart attack during one year in our country and now all these affected patients would get the treatment under this scheme. He said that in the era of technology patients are suffering from stress which further caused the blockage of arteries so people must pay special attention to their health, food and exercise.
