State transport proving boon to people

Haryana State Transport is a government organization providing safe, comfortable and time-bound transport facilities to the passengers in the state. Haryana State Transport operates about 3,531 buses from its 24 depots and 13 sub-depots covering a distance of 9.52 lakh kilometres and providing travel facility to about 5.45 lakh passengers on daily basis.

Along with providing safe and accessible travel to the people, the objective of the State Transport, Haryana, is to fulfill the social obligations and to provide transport facilities to the people of the state in a proper way at reasonable cost/rent.

Several steps have been taken by the present state government to improve the functioning of the Transport Department. In accordance with this, the online transfer policy was approved by the Chief Minister for transfer of employees in the Transport Department in a transparent manner. Under the online transfer policy, 881 drivers, 828 operators and 130 clerks have been transferred online; orders of which were issued on May 19, 2023 from the office of the Director, State Transport.

The employees of the above three cadres have been transferred only on the basis of voluntary participation and rationalization, giving relaxation in the minimum period of work in the transfer policy. However, some individual grievances are being aired by the employees and written representations have also been received by the authorities from the employees under transfer.

In this regard, it is informed that according to the provisions given in the online transfer policy, a Grievance Redressal Committee is constituted by the department to consider the grievances/ representations made by the employees under transfer. The committee after considering the grievances/representations will submit the recommendation/proposal to the administrative secretary for orders.

Accordingly, a Grievance Redressal Committee has been constituted under the Additional Director, State Transport, to consider the representations received on online transfers by the Transport Department. In this regard, a letter was issued to all the General Managers on May 30, to ensure that all the concerned employees are informed through the notice board that any representation on the online transfer order issued on May 19, 2023, will be sent to Directorate of State Transport through General Managers by June 6, 2023 for consideration of the committee.

On all the representations/grievances, the committee after consideration will send its consolidated recommendations to the competent authority for decision by June 12, 2023.
