Six more Aam Aadmi Clinics to be opened in Nawanshahr

Aam Aadmi Clinics established in District Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar by the Punjab Government with the aim of providing free health care to the common people at their doorstep, have virtually become guarantors of the health of the common people.

So far, thousands of people in the district have been benefited from the health care guarantee of the government by availing free treatment facility from these clinics.

Divulging details, Deputy Commissioner, Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa said that the major benefit of health check-up from these Aam Aadmi clinics is that when someone is diagnosed with symptoms of any serious illness, he / she is immediately referred to the nearest community health center/district hospital for further check-up so that the disease can be treated further.

As many as 11 Aam Aadmi Clinics are functioning in the district and the process of putting Six more in the service of the people is going on. In the last three months, 25551 patients have taken free medicines and treatment from these Aam Aadmi clinics in the district while 3281 have been given the benefit of free clinical tests. He said that the clinics included Panyali, Aur, Kamam, Bharata Khurd, Khatkar Kalan and Sandhwan-Pharala, where after arranging the necessary staff, would soon be dedicated to the service of people.

District Nodal Officer for Aam Aadmi Clinics, Dr Harjit Kaur says that apart from making 78 types of medicines available at Aam Aadmi Clinics, HB, blood sugar, blood grouping, HIV, HCV, HBsAg, VDRL, Urine related tests and blood slide malaria tests etc. are conducted free of charge.

She said that as per the commitment of providing quality healthcare facilities to the common people in the district these Aam Aadmi Clinics are being run by the Health Department Kathgarh, Takarla, Khankhana, Bahram, Sujjon, Jadla, Jabbowal, Pojewal, Sahiba, Kataria and Rahon. He said that there is a lot of enthusiasm among the common people towards Aam Aadmi Clinics, because in these clinics, the hassle free healthcare services including diagnosis of common diseases and clinical tests are being provided to the common people.

She further said that the aim of establishing Aam Aadmi Clinic is to provide immediate professional level treatment to the people by screening the diseases at the initial level, so that the disease can be prevented from progressing by getting timely treatment.
