Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal has appointed former Mayor of Bathinda Municipal Corporation Baljit Singh Bir Behman as Vice President of SAD.
Baljit Singh Bir Behman is a close associate of late former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal. During his Chief Ministership, Late CM Badal has been often staying at Bir Behman house in Bathinda.
Baljit Singh Bir Behman is one of the Akali leaders, who enjoys clean image, though he has been in powerful positions due to his proximity with senior Badal. With blessings of senior Badal, he enjoyed plum political postings in the Akali regime.
Bir Behman started his political career as Sarpanch of village Bir Behman in 1993, when he came in touch with late Badal and gained his confidence with good work.
During Akali regime, Baljit Singh Bir Behman remained MD of Central Cooperative Bank, Member Working Committee of SAD, and Member General Council of SAD and first Mayor of prestigious Municipal Corporation of Bathinda.
