In the drive launched against gangsters, SAS Nagar police got a major breakthrough when a team of Zirakpur Police arrested an absconding gangster *Rohit Kumar @ Simtu @ Mota* S/o Bhag Singh, Khareen, PS Parvanoo, Teh Kasouli, Solan along with one. 32 caliber Pistol and 5 cartridges said SSP SAS Nagar, Sh Sandeep Garg IPS.
Rohit@ Simtu was wanted in about 6 criminal cases in Punjab & Himachal Pradesh. He is one of the accused involved in the Baltana Encounter Case in which seven persons were collecting extortion from the owner of a hotel on the directions of Gangster Bhupi Rana of Davinder Bambiha gang, who was operating from Jail.
Sharing further details, SSP said that on 17-02-22, at Baltana, Zirakpur, after a brief encounter with police team, in which an accused suffered a gunshot wound on his leg during a retaliatory fire by police party and one policeman also sustained injuries, three accused namely Ranbir Singh @ Rania, Vishal @ Vikrant and Ashish @ Aman along with one .30 calibre pistol, one .32 calibre pistol along with 10 live cartridges were arrested from Hotel Relax Inn, whereas chief architects of extortion racket Ankit Rana and Rohit fled from the spot .
Later Ankit was arrested on 13.12.22 along with arms & ammunition. Acting on a tip-off today, a police team of Zirakpur arrested Rohit @Simtu from Parvanoo, Himachal Pradesh.Further investigation is in process.
