Rs. 258 crore allocation by Punjab Government in Budget for Forests & Wildlife Preservation Department

Living up to its wholehearted commitment to spare no effort for promoting the initiatives of Forest and Wildlife Preservation Department, the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has made a provision of Rs. 258 crore in the budget Financial Year (FY) 2023-24.

Expressing gratitude to the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and the Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, the Forests and Wildlife Preservation Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak said that the abovesaid budgetary provisions would go a long way in boosting the various activities of the Forest Department aimed at promoting greenery and maintaining ecological balance.

Out of the amount of Rs. 258 crore,  Rs.196 crore have allocated for Punjab Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (PUNCAMPA), while Rs.13 crore have allotted for Wildlife and Zoo Development and Rs. 31 crore for the Green Punjab Mission.

It is noteworthy that under the Shaheed-E-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh Hariawal Lehar, against a target of 50 lac saplings, 54 lac saplings have already been planted. Target of planting 1 crore saplings in the upcoming FY 2023-24 across different schemes.
