Chandigarh/Amritsar, September 24

Punjab PWD Minister Harbhajan Singh E.T.O. on Friday attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for attempting to poach AAP MLAs in Punjab under ‘Operation Lotus’. He said that democracy will be dead if the elected government is not allowed to hold session.

Addressing a press conference here, the power minister said that the Constitution of Dr BR Ambedkar makes India a democratic country but BJP is inclined to abolish democracy with its devious political agenda.

He said that the people of Punjab ensured a landslide victory for AAP party and rejected BJP as well as other traditional parties but despite this, BJP has come down to practising immoral politics  to overrule the mandate of people by other means.

He said that after the BJP failed to intimidate AAP leaders with central agencies in Delhi and Punjab, BJP is offering money to AAP MLAs to topple the government. But the staunch soldiers of Kejriwal foiled their nefarious agenda, though BJP succeeded in many other states of the country including in Goa recently in its ‘Operation Lotus’ mission.

He also condemned Punjab Governor’s move to cancel assembly session summoned by elected government and said that it is violation of democratic system and said that BJP doesn’t want to AAP to work for the betterment of the country as it is extremely frightened by the incessantly rising popularity of AAP and its supremo Arvind Kejriwal in the country ahead of 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

He lashed out at BJP and said that what is the purpose of elections if the elected representatives are not allowed to hold the session of the assembly, then what is the need of assembly elections? He said that BJP is killer of the democracy.
