Punjab Vigilance Bureau nabs ASI taking bribe of Rs.10000

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state, on Friday nabbed an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Balwinder Singh, posted in police station, Tibba, Ludhiana city for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.

Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the VB said the above said police official has been arrested on the complainant of Dr Arun Behal, resident of Raju Colony, Tibba Road, Ludhiana city.

Giving details he added that the complainant has approached the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of VB Ludhiana and alleged that the above said police official has demanded Rs 10,000 as a bribe to help him in getting a bail in a police case registered against him.

The spokesperson informed that a VB team from EOW Ludhiana range laid a trap and the accused police official has been arrested on the spot while taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.

In this regard a case under prevention of corruption act has been registered against the accused ASI at VB police station Ludhiana range. Further investigation in this case was under progress.
