Rupnagar, February 22
For the restoration of long-standing pay parity with their fellow medical officers the veterinary officers of the animal husbandry department protested by bearing black badges outside the deputy director’s office here on Wednesday.
Distt organiser of the joint action committee of vets for pay parity Dr Gurpreet Singh disclosed that this ongoing protest fortnight will last from February 7 to 21. He blamed the previous Congress government had deliberately reduced the entry scale of veterinary officers from 56100 to 47600. Despite giving repeated memoranda to the government against this gross injustice, the issue is still standing for the last two years thereby forcing veterinary doctors to bugle the agitation. They further asserted that the issue of pay parity with medical officers is not just an economic issue but it is an issue of honour, dignity and social status of the entire veterinary profession.
