Chandigarh, October 19
Lawyer of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh will abstain from work today to protest against NIA raid on house of lawyer of Punjab and Haryana High Court.
Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association has also strongly condemned the unlawful action of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) raiding the house of the member of the Bar Shelly Sharma and it has decided to abstain from work today i.e. 19/10/2022.
PHHCA Honorary Secretary Vishal Aggarwal has appealed members to co-operate and not appear in the courts.
Meanwhile, Bar Council has also condemned these raids.
In a statement it said that in view of the raids conducted by NIA at residence-cum-legal offices of advocates in Chandigarh, Gurugram and Bathinda and seizure of their phones and laptops, the State Bar Council while condemning, has decided to call ‘abstain from work’ in all three states of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh on 19.10.2022.
Further, an emergent/extraordinary meeting of the General House has been called at 01:00 PM to discuss further course of action.
