Punjab: Animal markets ‘temporarily closed’ by government to prevent outbreak of disease in animals

In order to prevent the outbreak of disease spread among animals in several parts of Punjab recently, the Punjab government has issued a written order to completely ban the establishment of animal markets.

Regular written orders have been issued by the Joint Secretary of Animal Husbandry Department in this regard In accordance with these orders today, the district administration did not allow the cattle market to be held at Khanna.

Giving information in this regard, Deputy Director of Animal Husbandry Department, Dr. Paramdeep Singh Walia, through a written press statement, said that for some time now, symptoms of foot and mouth disease were found in cattle in different areas of Punjab, in view of which Punjab.

The government has banned cattle markets till April 30, keeping in mind the joint recommendations of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana and the regional laboratory set up in Jalandhar for testing various diseases in animals.

In the next few days, a new decision is likely to be taken by the animal husbandry department after reviewing the latest situation.

He said that foot-and-mouth disease and foot-and-mouth disease are infectious diseases in cows and buffaloes that spread due to the contact of healthy animals with sick animals. Apart from this, people who come in contact with sick animals can also spread the disease.
