Preneet Kaur must resign forthwith from Patiala constituency and face election: Bir Devinder Singh

Patiala, February 4

Former Punjab Vidhan Sabha deputy speaker Bir Devinder Singh reacted to the suspension of Preneet Kaur MP (Lok Sabha) from the Congress Party. He said that it is exceedingly belated disciplinary action but certainly a correct step in the right direction. She has been flamboyantly flirting with the BJP, ever since her husband Capt. Amarinder Singh formed an alliance with the BJP and contested Assembly election from Patiala as a Joint candidate of the BJP alliance, he said.

Bir Devinder said, “Actually she should have been suspended or expelled from the Congress Party in February 2022 when on 18th February 2022 in open defiance and conscious betrayal of the Congress Party and little realizing that she is sitting MP of the Congress Party;  she was seen prominently featuring in a route-march, riding jointly in a front vehicle,  rubbing shoulder with Raj Nath Singh Defence Minister on one side and her husband Capt. Amarinder Singh on the other side, who was contesting Assembly election as a candidate from Patiala-1, supported by BJP against the Congress Candidate Mr. Vishnu Sharma.”

He added that if the Patiala Royals believe in propriety or Political Morality then she should have first resigned from the Primary Membership of the Congress Party and also as Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) from Patiala seat on which she was elected thrice on Congress Ticket and then would have jumped in the bandwagon of the BJP with Raj Nath Singh. It is good that People of Patiala has out rightly rejected their unholy and opportunistic alliance with the BJP and they will be further shown the door once again in 2024 Parliamentary elections.

“If at all Preneet Kaur adhere to any of the conventionally accepted standards of propriety or dignity of human conduct and if  any grain of Political Morality is left in her body and mind, then she must resign forthwith from the Parliament constituency of Patiala and test the water, face the by-election on BJP ticket and see how people  teach you and your family a monumental lesson for your treacherous betrayal of the Party, which  has made you MP from Patiala thrice and Chief Minister, twice to your husband  Capt. Amarinder Singh,” said the former deputy speaker.
