Municipal Corporation (MC) Commissioner Phagwara Dr. Nayan Jassal today felicitated the Safai Sewaks (sanitary workers) for their exemplary service in making the city clean.
Handing over the appreciation letters, Commissioner lauded the efforts put by these officers to perform their duty with dedication and zeal .She said that these safai sewaks have rendered marvelous service to humanity by cleaning the city. She said that such unflinching commitment towards society and its people was expected from every government employee of the Municipal Corporation.
She expressed the hope that these safai sewaks will act as inspiration for their peers to perform their duty meticulously. She said that these Sanitary Workers have displayed exemplary commitment for work which was unparalleled. Dr. Nayan said that the entire society in general and she himself in particular was indebted to ‘soldiers of cleanliness’ for this noble cause.
She further said that the civic body will facilitate more such sanitary workers every month. Reiterating the commitment for safeguarding the interests of every employee of MC, she said that keeping in view the festive season ahead MC also has released pending arrears worth Rs 91.60 lakh to the employees. She said that this also includes payments of the Assured Career Progression (ACP) scheme which were pending since 2006. She said that the payments worth Rs 20.50 lakh have been cleared in this regard. Likewise Rs 71.10 lakh has been paid as arrear towards payment pending of Sixth Pay Commission since July 2021. This has benefitted the hundreds of employees working in the Municipal Corporation.
