20th October is celebrated worldwide every year as world osteoporosis Day. On this occasion, the Department of Endocrinology at PGIMER, Chandigarh conducted an osteoporosis awareness campaign in its New OPD premises on Thursday.
The campaign was attended by people with osteoporosis and their relatives visiting the endocrinology OPD. Nearly 150 people attended the campaign. Headed by Professor Sanjay Kumar Bhadada, the doctors of the department talked about osteoporosis, its magnitude, symptoms, screening and treatment options available for the same.
All the participants were provided with a free booklet entitled, “Osteoporosis-Karan and Nibaran” that highlights the day-to-day aspects involved in the prevention and management of osteoporosis. That fall prevention is a major and indispensable component of long-term osteoporosis care was emphasised by the doctors.
