PAU VC lauds student participation in ‘Clean and Green Campus’ drive

Ludhiana, December 19

The Vice-Chancellor of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, Dr. Satbir Singh Gosal, met the National Service Scheme volunteers who have been actively participating in the ‘Clean and Green PAU Campus’ drive initiated in the series of the Diamond Jubilee celebration.

He visited the site which the students cleaned and beautified under the guidance of the NSS unit of the university.

Addressing the students, Dr. Gosal expressed his happiness towards the collective synergy of the entire PAU fraternity in pursuing common goals which are an important step towards nation-building.

He appreciated the enthusiasm of the students and their endeavor for service towards their ‘academic anchor’. He was also pleased to see the students interacting face-to-face rather than sitting in isolation with their mobile phones.

For a sustainable tomorrow, the need of the hour is to embed the habit of cleanliness in our behavior, Dr. Gosal opined.

It is encouraging to see that the students and youth, who are the decision-makers of tomorrow, are becoming champions of greenery and cleanliness. As they lead by example to make their vicinity healthy and green, it would instill a behavioral change among other residents of the city too, he added.

Dr. Harmeet Singh Saralch, the NSS Programme Coordinator, informed that NSS, which works on the motto of ‘Not Me But You,’ inculcates the spirit of voluntary service among the students and brings academic institutions closer to society. It combines their knowledge and action desirable for community development.

The participants cleaned the designated area, collected plastic waste, cleared roadside channels, prepared tree basins, and painted tree trunks during camp.
