PAU shines in Punjab State Inter-University Youth Festival, wins 18 prizes

The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) has won marvels by clinching 18 prizes during the Punjab State Inter-University Youth Festival 2023-24, held at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar under the aegis of the Directorate of Youth Services, Government of Punjab, from November 26-29, 2023.

The PAU students won Gold Medals in pihri bunnah, pakkhi bunnah, rwaeity pehrawa and mehandi; Silver Medals in lammi heka wale geet, phulkari kadna, gazal, poster making and one act play; and Bronze Medals in chikku bnaunah, nalaa bunnah, bhand, mime, group folk song, muhavredaar vartalaap, collage making, rangoli and photography events.

The PAU Vice-Chancellor Dr Satbir Singh Gosal congratulated the students; Dance, Drama, Music Club (DDMC) Presidents of all the constituent colleges of PAU, and officials of the Directorate Students’ Welfare for winning the medals and bringing recognition to the University.

“Your sheer commitment and passion towards your goal has enabled you to put up an impressive show and led to individual as well as collective victory,” he added.

Dr Nirmal Jaura, Director Students’ Welfare, PAU, said that the discipline and dedication shown by the PAU students in this festival was highly appreciable. “Your potential is out for the world to see. Let’s commit ourselves to attain higher goals from here on”, he told the students.

Dr Jaswinder Kaur Brar, Associate Director Culture, PAU, said that a total of 17 government and private universities from Punjab participated in this four-day mega youth festival. The PAU contingent comprising 114 students competed in a diverse range of team as well as individual events and showcased a remarkable performance, she added.

Satvir Singh, Supervisor Cultural Activities, informed that PAU students participated in 34 events pertaining to dance, music, theatre, literary, fine arts and heritage categories.

The combined efforts of President of UDDMC Dr Vishal Bector; President of University Fine Arts Club Dr Rupinder Kaur; and Presidents of DDMC of constituent colleges, namely Dr Nilesh Biwalkar, College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology; Dr Ashoo Toor, College of Basic Sciences and Humanities; Dr Sharanbir Kaur Bal, College of Community Science; and Dr Karan Bir Singh Gill, College of Horticulture and Forestry, were also lauded.
