PAU comes up with Coffee Table book on Agri-development in Punjab

Celebrating its 60 years of splendid service to Punjab’s and India’s agriculture, the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) has come up with a coffee table book on “Agricultural Development in Punjab: PAU’s Colossal Feat” which was released by Bhagwant Mann, Chief Minister, Punjab at Kisan Mela, Ludhiana on September 23.

Dr. Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice-Chancellor, PAU, is a patron; Dr Tejinder Singh Riar, Additional Director Communication, PAU, is Advisor; and Sheetal Chawla, Assistant Director (Publications), PAU, is Editor of the coffee table book. The photographs have been contributed by Dr AP Singh, SK Rode, SK Mohlajee, Krishan Adeeb and Harpreet Singh.

“Dedicated to Punjab farmers and PAU scientists, the book presents a deep insight into the genesis of PAU and its remarkable contributions to agriculture and allied fields through its three major components – research, teaching, and extension,” told Dr. Gosal.

Giving details, Dr. Riar said that it was a tedious task as the coffee table book took eight months for preparation. It highlights all the activities of Regional Research Stations, Fruit Research Stations, Vegetable Sub-Station, University Seed Farms, Krishi Vigyan Kendras and Farm Advisory Service Centres located across Punjab, he informed.

Chawla said that midnight oil was burnt for this coffee table book which is second in the series, the earlier one being “Ushering in of Green Revolution: PAU’s Colossal Feat.” The book which is of more than 100 pages, covers the tenure of all the Vice-Chancellors, the visits of important dignitaries to PAU and awards and honours bestowed upon PAU. It also throws light on the rich cultural heritage of Punjab and scenic beauty of PAU campus, she added.
