Helpline number 14567 for senior citizens has been issued by Department of Social Security and Women and Child Development, Punjab. This information was shared by MLA of Ferozepur Rural Constituency, Rajnish Dahiya on the occasion of releasing the poster of ‘Elder Line’.
He said that the National Helpline ‘Elder Line’ toll free number has been issued to help the elderly. He said that for information about old age care institutions, old age homes, activity centers and other information or for any kind of legal assistance and suggestions on pension related issues etc can be had from on toll free number from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
He said that the Social Security Department of the Punjab Government has made these efforts jointly with HelpAz India. Its purpose is to ensure the safety of the elderly living in homes, old age homes or elsewhere. The organization helps elderly victims of abuse and homeless seniors get into nursing homes.
MLA Dahiya said that this toll free number is proving to be very helpful for senior citizens. He told the elders of the district that any elderly person can call this number in case of emergency and inform about their problem and get help. He said that complaints received through the help line are contacted with the concerned departments and immediate action is ensured.
