Newly-inducted union minister from Maharashtra hits back at Supriya Sule after she takes a dig at him

New Delhi, June 11

Pune Member of Parliament and Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol didn’t hold back in his response to NCP (SP) leader Supriya Sule’s recent comments regarding his cabinet position in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government. Sule had remarked that Mohol’s role in the cabinet should prioritize the interests of Punekars over those of contractors.

Mohol, a former corporator and mayor of Pune, has assumed the role of Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation in the Modi administration.

Addressing reporters, Sule extended her congratulations to Mohol for securing the cabinet berth while expressing her hope that the benefits of his position would directly serve the people of Pune rather than catering to contractors.

In a robust response on the micro-blogging site ‘X’, Mohol didn’t mince his words. He acknowledged Sule’s apparent dissatisfaction, suggesting that his ascent from an ordinary party worker to a ministerial role might be hard to swallow for someone who’s been accustomed to privilege from birth.

Expanding on his rebuttal, Mohol pointedly addressed the issue of contractors, insinuating a deeper political dynamic. He hinted that the association between certain political entities and contractors in Maharashtra, particularly in Pune, is a well-known affair. Mohol hinted at a historical context, implying that these relationships have been nurtured over time, indicating a complex web of patronage and influence.

The exchange between Mohol and Sule underscores the underlying tensions and power dynamics within Maharashtra’s political landscape, where issues of privilege, representation, and vested interests often collide.
