He was speaking during the closing ceremony of two day FAP National Awards 2022 at Chandigarh University, Gharuan. Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, Chancellor Chandigarh University Satnam Singh Sandhu, and President FAP Dr. Jagjit Singh Dhuri were also present on the closing ceremony of the two-day FAP National Awards 2022, constituted by the Federation of Private Schools and Associations of Punjab.

A total of 120 meritorious students were given the Pride of Punjab award, while 594 teachers were honoured in the Best Teacher Category on the second day of the FAP National Awards 2022.

Speaking on the issue of failure of Punjab Government to release pending dues under Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme for SC Students, NCSC Chairman Vijay Sampla said,” National Commission of Scheduled Caste (NCSC) till date has not received the panel of names of judges from the High Court to probe the irregularities in the implementation of Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme for SC students in Punjab”.

He further added that the commission was not satisfied with the reply filed by the Punjab Government on the issue, therefore NCSC had demanded an enquiry or audit by CAG or a panel of High Court Judges.

Vijay Sampla said, “Due to non-payment of pending dues to the SC students for 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2019-20 the students are suffering and as a result their enrollment in both school education, as well as higher education, has witnessed a decrease.”

Speaking on the occasion, Finance Minister of Punjab, Harpal Singh Cheema said, “Teacher plays a crucial role in shaping the future of a student, and the importance of a teacher comes second to mother as a child spends 20-25 years of his/her life under their guidance. Today when we see successful corporate leaders, successful entrepreneur, successful professional, successful scientist, then we must also acknowledge the role played by their teachers in transforming the lives of the students who after completing their education become nation builders.”

He also congratulated FAP for their initiative of awarding schools and teachers of private sector for their impeccable contribution, who have always contributed in the development but deprived of the deserved recognition.

While addressing the gathering at the FAP National Awards 2022, Chancellor Chandigarh University Satnam Singh Sandhu stated, “Chandigarh University will provide 100% scholarship to 120 meritorious students who were given the Pride of Punjab award by Federation of Private Schools and Associations of Punjab.”

He further added that the university will offer specialized training programmes, free of cost for the upgradation of the school teachers so that their skills can be enhanced and match the global standards.
