National Lok Adalat settles 1150 cases, awards compensation amounting to Rs 12.70 crore

National Lok Adalat at Kapurthala today disposed off 1150 cases and awarded a compensation of rs 12.70 crore to litigants.

National Lok Adalat was organized by District Legal Services Authority, Kapurthala as per the guidelines of Punjab State Legal Services Authority.

Distrct and sessions judge Amarinder Singh Grewal inspected the functioning of Lok adalats in Kapurthala and solved many cases with his personal intervention .

On this occasion, 10 benches were constituted at District Court Kapurthala, 3 at Sub-Division Phagwara, 2 at Sub-Division Sultanpur Lodhi and 1 at Sub-Division Bhullath. Apart from this, a Bench District Consumer Forum and a Bench Revenue Court were also constituted.

In today’s National Lok Adalat, criminally compensable, Section 138 N.I. Act, Bank Recovery Cases, M.A.C.T. Cases, Labor Matters, Electricity and Water Bills Matters, Matrimonial Matters, Land Expropriation Cases, Service Matters, Revenue Cases and other Civil Matters, Rent, Injunction Suits, Specific Performance etc. pending and pre-litigative cases were included.

On this occasion, Amarinder Singh Grewal, District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Kapurthala informed that settling the case in Lok Adalat saves both time and money and it’s decision is final and appeal against its decision cannot be impleaded in any higher court and described it a victory of both the parties.

There was great enthusiasm among the litigants to get their cases settled through Lok adalats. The judicial bench at Kapurthala was presided over by Jaspal Verma, Additional District and Sessions Judge, Kapurthala, Rakesh Kumar, Additional District and Sessions Judge, Kapurthala, Dr. Gurpreet Kaur, Principal Judge, Family Court, Kapurthala, Rajwant Kaur, Civil Judge (Senior Division), Kapurthala, Zasveer Singh, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Kapurthala, Shivani Garg, Civil Judge (Junior Division), Kapurthala, Prateek Gupta, Civil Judge (Jud), Kapurthala, Monika, Civil Judge (Jud) Kapurthala, Simran Civil Judge (Jud), Bhavana Bharti Civil About 4202 cases were admitted in the National Lok for hearing.
