Ludhiana, November 12

Sanjeev Arora, Member Parliament (Rajya Sabha) has given a few suggestions to the Railways to further streamline services of the railways in the Ludhiana district.

Arora gave suggestions today after receiving an official communication dated November 9, 2022, from Dr. Seema Sharma, DRM, Northern Railway, Ferozepur.

Dr. Seema had asked for suggestions from Arora, apprising him that the Ferozepur Division of the Northern Railway has progressed tremendously during the current financial year, and to give further impetus to this, ideas were requested.

In reply to the DRM’s letter, Arora said, “Through various platforms and forums, have been listening to the woes of the commuters and would like to highlight few issues about Ludhiana District where I am resident.”

He hoped that his suggestions would help making life easier for public in large. He wrote that the current situation of Ludhiana railway station especially platforms is in poor state and needs major infrastructural upliftment/revamp.

Arora further stated that the currently huge number of passengers trains are halting at Ludhiana station and hence it is unable to cater the passenger footfall and advised that some passenger trains should be given halt at adjoining Dhandari and Phillaur railway stations rather than Ludhiana.

He also pointed out that railway crossings are a major issue and hence he would request to consider construction of Rail Over Bridge (ROB) at Neelon Canal and Ishmeet Singh Chowk in Model Town of Ludhiana.

He further wrote that Ludhiana being an industrial town thousands of commuters from my constituency adds up a major chunk of work force which rely on railway services.

The existing Shatabdi Express 12037/12038 falls short to the demands of commuters travelling to and fro from Ludhiana to Delhi.

Hence, he requested to kindly increase the number of bogies and draft scheduling plans for introduction of new Shatabdi trains with a gap of three hours from existing schedule.

Arora requested to kindly make a note of the issues and try to implement at the earliest possible.
