Mohali: DC flags off voter awareness van as a part of SVEEP campaign

In continuation of awareness activities under Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation program, the Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Electoral Officer, Aashika Jain launched an awareness Van to mobilise people to get themselves enrolled as voter as well as exercise their right to vote judiciously.

Divulging the details, Jain said that as per the schedule of Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls, the new voters can get themselves enrolled from October 27 to December 9, 2023.

For this purpose, the citizens who attained an age of 18 or above on January 01, 2024, are eligible to become a Voter. One can log on to National Voter Service Portal online or by downloading a mobile app Voter Helpline and easily can register himself/herself as a Voter before the due date.

She said that the LED mounted Van has been conveying the message of the Election Commission of India and Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab to become a Voter and exercise your voting right during the polling.

The Van would cover all the three vidhan sabha constituencies falling in the district as Kharar-52, SAS Nagar-53 and Derabassi-112 for two days.

She said that apart from displaying IEC material and awareness films, the Van also have an Electronic Voting Machine to Sensitise the people of the functioning of EVM and how to cast their vote on the machine.

The officers who were present on this occasion included ADC (UD) Damanjit Singh Mann, Assistant Commissioner (G) Harjot Kaur Mavi and Election Tehsildar Sanjay Kumar.
