Mohali: DC and SSP jointly visit polling booths in Kharar Constituency

To conduct a free, fair, transparent and inducement-free Lok Sabha Election-2024 in SAS Nagar District, the District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain and Senior Superintendent of Police Dr Sandip Garg jointly visited the polling booths identified under various categories to check preparedness about polling, which is happening to be tomorrow from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Divulging the details, the Deputy Commissioner Mrs Jain said that the purpose of the visit was to check whether all arrangements have been done or not before the arrival of polling parties.

She said that the arrangement of accommodation, food, availability of fans/coolers and arrangement of Sweet and Cold drinking water apart from sheds/tents, toilets, wheelchairs etc. is part of our duty to make available on every booth.

She said that the booths visited included Shinagriwala, Nada, Mullanpur Garibdass, Siswan and Kurali and all the arrangements were found in place. She said that Booth Level Officers are dedicatedly doing their duty to complete all the arrangements at booths with the help of sector supervisors.

Interacting with the polling personnel before they departed from Government Polytechnic Khooni Majra, She said that they are the backbone of the electoral process. Their duty is most of the challenging duty starting from setting up the booth, mock poll, and actual poll till the closing of the poll.

She said that our country is the largest democracy of the world and we are the proud voters of this democracy and the voters are the messengers of it. So, it is our duty towards our democracy to be part of the festivity of voting by thronging to the polling booths to cast our votes.

SSP Dr Sandip Garg said that the district police are committed to maintaining law and order besides building confidence among the voters to exercise their franchise without any fear.

For this, about 60 police nakas have been installed in the district and interstate borders. He said that the district police along with state armed police and para-military police will always remain on alert to thwart any untoward incident that can hamper the free and fair polling in the district.

ADC (UD) Damanjit Singh, SP (I) Jyoti Yadav, ARO-cum-SDM Kharar Gurmander Singh were also present on the occasion.
