Moga wins National Level Bronze Medal in TB Eradication Program

The TB eradication program in district Moga is being run very smoothly and effectively. As a result of which 52 districts were selected from all the states of India in the year 2022, Moga district has also been one of them.

Due to this good performance, the TB eradication program of the Moga district was awarded the National Bronze Medal. Deputy Commissioner Kulwant Singh has congratulated the District Health Department on this glorious achievement.

President of India Draupadi Murmu launched Prime Minister’s TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan today.

He also addressed the nation, which Deputy Commissioner Kulwant Singh, Civil Surgeon Dr. SP Singh and Dr Gauravpreet Singh Sodhi District TB Officer attended through video conference.

Dr Gauravpreet Singh Sodhi said that 1200 patients are currently being given free medicine in district Moga under the National TB Eradication Campaign.

All the tests are done free of charge during TB diagnosis and treatment. Moreover, Rs. 500/- per month is transferred directly to the bank account for food and nutrition for the patients.

He said that the family members of the TB patient are being encouraged to take some medicines to protect them from this disease and those medicines are also given free so that the spread of TB disease can be prevented the target is to achieve the goal of eliminating TB by 2025.

Under this, the District TB Center Moga has a Microscopy lab for sputum examination and modern machines are available for TB testing.

Along with this, government hospitals Baghapurana (Thathi Bhai), Kot Ise Khan, Dharamkot, Droli Bhai, and Dhudike have provisions for free TB testing and free treatment.

Any patient with symptoms of TB, such as cough for more than 2 weeks, including bleeding, loss of appetite, shortness of breath, etc., can visit these institutions for examination and treatment.

The district TB officer has appealed to various social service organizations of the district, elected representatives, business establishments, cooperative societies, political leaders and others to contribute to this program for the eradication of TB.
