Chandigarh,October 15
The Bharatiya Janata Party today alleged that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann appeared to have taken a confused and contradictory stand during the meeting on SYL with his Haryana counterpart Manohar Lal Khattar.
Reacting to Mann’s statement after the meeting, the state BJP general secretary Dr. Subash Sharma pointed out, on the one hand, Mann claimed that Punjab did not have any water to spare and on the other hand, he has agreed to measurement of water before starting the construction of Bhagwant Singh Mann.
“When we know we do not have any extra water, where is the question of measuring it again”, Dr. Sharma asked, adding, Mann’s stand should have been outrightly clear that Punjab does not have any extra water which actually it does not have.
The state BJP general secretary asked Mann to also clarify about the statement made by AAP Haryana in-charge Sushil Gupta who has been repeatedly saying that his government will take SYL water to Haryana. “We had advised Mann not to take any dictations from Delhi on this issue, but he seems to have ignored our advice”, Dr. Sharma remarked, asking him “to clarify his stand on Arvind Kejriwal and Sushil Gupta’s statements that both Punjab and Haryana should share SYL water.
