Water Supply and Sanitation Minister Shri Bram Shankar Jimpa through online medium from Ferozepur launched Sewa Fecal Sludge Management Portal.
Fecal sludge management (FSM) is the storage, collection, transport, treatment and safe end use or disposal of fecal sludge and under this pilot project, more than 40 thousand houses will be covered.
He said that the state government led by Bhagwant Singh Maan, Chief Minister, is continuously striving to provide a clean and healthy environment to the citizens of the state. Accordingly, with the support of E-Gov Foundation, the fecal sludge management (FSM) will be implemented in the rural areas of Punjab.
Jimpa informed that real-time data is available on this portal, which helps in monitoring the sewage management process. This portal will be launched as a pilot project initially in SAS Nagar Mohali, Rupnagar, Patiala and Fatehgarh Sahib Districts of Punjab in collaboration with the Department of Local Government and Department of Water Supply and Sanitation. Under this pilot project, 40,980 houses in 171 villages will be covered, which will benefit about 2 lakh people.
He said that with the Sewa Fecal Sludge Management Portal, any citizen will be able to get the facility of emptying his septic tank at home through this portal. The proper management of sewage sludge will keep the environment clean, which will have a positive effect on the health of the people. With this, private institutions will also come forward.
