Ludhiana, April 7

To ensure maximum participation during Lok Sabha polls and to achieve the target of ‘Iss Baar, 70 Paar’, the administration has initiated ‘person to person’ awareness drive in the district.

During this drive, the teams of district administration move to the field and interact with the individuals to encourage them to vote on the polling day (June 1, 2024).

Apart from this, on-the-spot voter registration is also done on the spot to enroll the eligible first-time voters. On Saturday, teams visited different areas including Model Gram, Kochar Market, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) among other areas.

The officials stated that eligible first time voters can use ‘Voter Helpline’ mobile application and National Voter Services Portal (NVSP) for enrolling themselves as voters. The residents can also visit www.nvsp.in to register themselves as voters.

District Election Officer (DEO)-cum-Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sakshi Sawhney said that awareness drives are being organized regularly. Voter registration camps are also being organized in the educational institutes to enroll first-time voters.

These activities are being organized to encourage voters under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program.

The aim is to ensure maximum participation during the Lok Sabha-2024 elections and to achieve the target of more than 70 percent voter turnout during the Lok Sabha elections (Iss Baar, 70 Paar).

Meanwhile, DEO Sawhney reiterated the commitment of the administration and police to ensure free, fair and transparent elections. She urged the residents to exercise their ‘Right to Vote’ without any fear and without coming under anyone’s influence.
