Lok Sabha Polls: No political ‘hulchul’ in Ferozepur looks to be a nervous battle now

The Fact News Service
Ferozepur, April 27

Still sufficient time is left for the polling date in Punjab on June 1, the major political parties are still indecisive over fielding their candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Presently, there is no political ‘hulchul’ relating to Lok Sabha elections, in Ferozepur

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was the first to announce Jagdeep Singh Kaka Brar, who represents the Muktsar assembly seat. SAD(Amritsar) led by Simrajit Singh Mann, MP has announced its candidate as Bhupinder Singh Bhullar, a retired police official. SAD(Badal) had also fielded its candidate from the Guruharsahai as Nardev Singh Bobby Mann from Ferozepur. BSP has also declared Surinder Kamboj father of Aam Aadmi Party Jalalabad MLA Jagdeep Goldy Kamboj, as the candidate from the Ferozepur Lok Sabha seat.

The two major political parties – Congress and BJP – are still indecisive over their candidates for the field in the Ferozepur Lok Sabha constituency.  The Congress leaders are feeling a strong position because of a break-up in the BJP-SAD alliance but the non-announcement of the candidate creates suspicion either of the internal tussle or not finding a suitable candidate.  Similar is the position of BJP major political party, not finding a suitable candidate who could get support from all the leaders and workers.

SAD has been trying to maintain the winning streak since 1998 and the last candidate was Sukhbir Singh Badal who had won with a margin of 1,98,850 votes defeating Sher Singh Ghubaya of Congress.

There are 9 Assembly constituencies in the Ferozepur Lok Sabha segment and barring Abohar, all others are AAP MLAs and if given full support, the AAP candidate can have a win-win situation. Added here, one AAP leader Fouji Angrez Singh who has been denied the ticket has announced to contest the elections as an Independent candidate.  Still, it depends upon the fielding of candidates by two other major political parties BJP and Congress.

The outcome is in the womb of the future but with the announcement of all the candidates and later on,  the fight looks to be becoming interesting. However, for the time being, there is no political ‘hulchul’ in Ferozepur so far and it looks to be a nervous battle now.
