Lok Sabha elections 2024 approach, the civil and police administration in Bathinda district has intensified its efforts to curb the influx of illicit liquor from neighbouring states and alcohol-related industries, including ethanol units within the district.

Today marked a significant step in this ongoing vigilance as Deputy Commissioner Jaspreet Singh, accompanied by SSP Deepak Pareek, conducted a surprise visit to BCL Industries (Limited) Sangat Kalan. The visit focused on scrutinizing the ethanol unit, bottling plant, warehouse, CCTV surveillance, raw material units, and industry holograms.

During the inspection, Deputy Commissioner Jaspreet Singh meticulously examined the ethanol tankers at BCL Industries, ensuring compliance and preventing any potential malpractice.

Moreover, the bottling plant underwent thorough scrutiny, with samples collected and verified to meet established norms. The examination also encompassed a detailed assessment of industry holograms, all of which were found to be authentic and in accordance with prescribed guidelines. DC Jaspreet Singh said that strict vigil is kept on interstate border with Haryana.

All major roads and Link Roads shall be covered with excise and police Check Points. DC Bathinda also held meeting with DC Sirsa and sought report on number of liquor shops aross interstate border and to keep strict vigil on movement of liquor on interstate routes.

DC also mentioned that excise, police and FST teams are activated ever since MCC was enforced and recovery of illicit liquor has been done. Till now, 2136.35 litres of illicit liquor has been seized by above said teams.

During this crucial inspection Assistant Commissioner of Excise Bathinda, Range Umesh Bhandari, Excise Officer Barinder Pal Singh, along with other officials were present underscoring the collaborative efforts to maintain electoral integrity and public safety.
