The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission of Chandigarh has directed a beauty salon of Kharar to pay Rs 1 lakh in compensation to a woman for allegedly damaging her hair after giving them curls.
Seema Sharma of Kharar alleged that on February 18, 2021, she approached the Make Over Place (beauty salon) at Kharar to curl her hair. They assured her that they are expert in this filed. On this, the complainant got her hair curl from them and paid an amount of Rs 3,000 as service charges but the salon did not provide any receipt for payment.
She alleged that just after a week’s time, curled hair of the complainant got uncurled and her hair became very rough. When she complained about it to the salon to bring the curl back again or do away the roughness of the hair then the salon demanded Rs 3,000 for shampooing and Rs 1,500 per sitting for keratin of hair.
When she showed her reluctance to pay the amount then the salon started avoiding her on one pretext or the other. She said that on April 14, 2021, she visited one of the renowned skin specialists in order to get advice and treatment for damage caused by the salon.
