Jalandhar: DCP distributes plants under Green Diwali initiative at Model Town

Deputy Commissioner of Police Jagmohan Singh today join hands with city-based NGO EduYouth Foundation to promote `Green Diwali’ by distributing as many as 200 plants at Model Town Market. T

he NGO has launched an initiative namely `Love Nature, Love Life Campaign’ so as to spread awareness towards environment-friendly Diwali celebrations.

Accompanied by ACP Model Town Khushbir Kaur, the DCP urged the people to participate in this noble cause to save the environment by shunning the use of crackers that are not environment-friendly.

He started the distribution of saplings among residents of Model Town to spread this message in masses.

Lauding the efforts of the NGO, Singh said that all the citizens must collectively come forward and realize the significance of a healthy environment. He said that all of us should take care of our health, which can be done by preserving nature.

NGO President Prof. Kanwar Sartaj Singh while thanking the DCP for joining this initiative said that all members and volunteers are working tirelessly toward welfare of society. It’s our humble submission to all residents to celebrate cracker-free Diwali and keep our environment healthy, he said.

Prominent others present on the occasion included Sukhdev Singh (SHO Model Town), Harsimran Tiwana, Dinkar Dogra, Gaurav Sharma, Ujwaldeep, Mandeep Singh, Manpreet Singh, Sandeep, Amarjit Shergill, and Baba Sukhjinder Singh.
