Chandigarh, September 25
Senior Punjab BJP leader Sunil Jakhar has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to announce a special pension for widow mothers who are the only bread earners for their families, and a scholarship scheme for their children to ensure respectable subsistence for them.
In his letter to the PM, the former Lok Sabha MP has suggested the announcement of these much-needed special measures during the Durga Puja festivities as a gesture by the centre towards widow mothers and their families in ensuring proper education and other facilities through this financial aid.
“In view of the upcoming Durga Puja festivities, i seek to urge you to consider the long pending demands for a dedicated allowance to single widow mothers for looking after their children. The occasion of Durga Puja would be the most opportune moment for you to announce a special Scholarship scheme quota for education of their wards,” Jakhar wrote in his letter.
Jakhar also handed over a copy of a letter to BJP president J P Nadda in New Delhi.
