Kapurthala September 1
All the revenue Patwaris and Kanugos today went on indefinite strike in protest against the additional over burden of revenue circles on them in Kapurthala district .The strike has affected the working of revenue departments in the District.
Kapurthala circle Patwar union president Amarbir Singh said that the indefinite strike against additional burden of revenue circles would continue till the acceptance of their genuine demand. He told PTI that there are 189 revenue circles in Kapurthala district against the strength of 35 Patwaris who were performing their duties with the additional burden of 5to 6 circles each .
He said that the strike would not affect the working of assessment of flood damage to crops and properties in the interest of farmers and would also perform their duties regarding issuance of domicile or other certificates to students .However he added that Patwaris selection in government jobs is made to perform duty in one circle only .
The strike has adversely affected the revenue work and most of the farmers retuned home with disappointments due to this strike .
Village Mansoorwal former Sarpanch Harbans Singh Walia and progressive farmer SurinderSingh of village Mansoorwal told PTI that they had retuned from Tehsil complex with disappointment due to strike .
However Kapurthala SDM Lal Viswas when contacted said strike would not affect much in the revenue department as the entire revenue staff was busy in assessment work of flood damage to crops and property in the flood affected villages so that flood relief compensation could be awarded to flood victims. He expressed hope that Government would soon find a solution to this problem.
