In a bid to streamline functioning of the Medical Education and Research department, the Health Minister Punjab Chetan Singh Jauremajra today conducted surprise check at the office of Director Medical Education and Research on Friday evening.
He said that the check was done in view of the difficulties being faced by the general public while getting services in the government departments. The minister personally checked every room of the multi-storey building having offices of various branches. He checked the attendance at the seats of the employees/officers of the office.
Apart from this, the employees who went on a tour for some government work, their location was also checked. Strict instructions were issued by the minister to ensure the attendance of the employees in the office.
Jauramajra while informing about his visit stated that Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government is committed to improve the working of the government departments so that common people do not face any difficulty in getting citizen services.
He further said that action would be taken against the officers and employees found absent today and our job is only to improve the work. The government does not intend to intimidate anyone.
