Haryana to host Videsh Sampark Programme with MEA

The Foreign Cooperation, Government of Haryana will be co-hosting the ‘Videsh Sampark Programme’ today in Panchkula with support from the Ministry of External Affairs. The said programme is an initiative by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India aimed at enhancing diaspora engagement and creating a partnership with state governments in addressing diaspora-related issues.

Chief Secretary, Sh. Sanjeev Kaushal and the Secretary (Consular, Passport and Visa, CPV and Overseas Indian Affairs, OIA) from MEA, Ausaf Sayeed will co-chair the meeting. Senior officials from MEA and the State Government will be attending the programme.

Through this conference, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) was engaged in an in-depth dialogue to enhance awareness among stakeholders and officials of the Haryana Government about programmes, schemes and initiatives launched by the Ministry with regard to consular and passport services, engagement with overseas Indians and welfare and protection of overseas Indians.

Notably, since 2017, six outreach programmes have been organized in partnership with the State Governments of Telangana, Maharashtra, Kerala, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka.

The programme will provide an opportunity to brainstorm how the Haryana Government and Ministry can strengthen ongoing cooperation to address issues, and problems pertaining to these areas; streamline procedures and share best practices.

Senior officials from the Ministry of External Affairs will be taking various sessions related to diaspora engagement, skill enhancement & workers welfare, welfare & protection of overseas indians, discussion on passport services, safe & legal migration etc.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Foreign Cooperation Department has developed the Haryana Overseas Placement Cell to provide overseas opportunities to the youth of Haryana. FCD is regularly hosting the meeting with the Haryanvi Diaspora to host the Video Conferencing for Non-Resident Haryanvi’s participation in the growth of the state and issue handling their issues. The team FCD is closely working with MEA, Recruiting Agents, Overseas Employers and another relevant department from Haryana.
