Haryana seeks land for separate Vidhan Sabha, writes to UT Advisor

Chandigarh, November 19

Haryana government sought 10-acre land in Chandigarh for construction of its separate Vidhan Sabha from UT administration.

In this regard, a letter has been written by the chief secretary to the UT Adviser Dharampal. The 10-acre land has been sought by the government adjacent to the traffic lights of the Madhya Marg – Railway Station road junction.

In June, the Haryana government requested UT administration in a meeting to make available the 10 acres site to them on basis of land to land exchange, for the construction of the its Vidhan Sabha Building. It was also discussed that the Government of Haryana would pay for the land by offering land of equal value to the U.T. Administration, Chandigarh.

Recently, the Union Home Minister Amit Shah while presiding over the 30th meeting of the Northern Zonal Council meeting had announced that land would be given in Chandigarh for the additional Vidhan Sabha building of Haryana.
