The Haryana government has notified rules to implement its f Unlawful Conversion of Religion Rules, 2022 law against religious conversion through force, undue influence.
The State Assembly had passed the Haryana Prevention of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Bill in March of this year.
Haryana Prevention of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Rules, 2022, were notified on December 15 after receiving Cabinet approval.
As per the rules, district magistrates in Haryana will have to publish a public notice inviting objections to an intended conversion.
The notice will be put up in the district magistrate’s office after a declaration is made by a woman or man that she or he is converting to another religion wilfully and not due to misrepresentation, force, fraud, allurement or marriage.
